Description of the Organization and Responsibilities

Senior Community Centers is a private and non-profit organization founded in 1970. Our mission is to end senior poverty and hunger through innovative solutions. The Gary and Mary West Senior Wellness Center is a multipurpose senior center that provides nutrition, activities, socialization, computer education, civic engagement, social services, health services including care coordination, mental health services, and supportive housing services to adults 60 years of age and older. HDP 191 students may be observing residents, as well as social service workers, nurses, mental health workers, nutrition staff, and activities staff.

60 and older.

Orientation Requirement

Once placement is confirmed, please schedule an orientation prior to your first visit.  The orientation will last for approximately one hour and will provide an overview of services offered as well as a tour.

Check-In Procedure

Check in with the site mentor upon arrival at site.

Research Availability

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Dress Code

Appropriate, casual attire.

Testing Requirements

(1) Letter of clearance from the HDP Field Research Coordinator

Other Requirements

Patient confidentiality must be respected at all times. Picture ID at all times.
